Barnes Thompson Ltd is looking to recruit an ACCOUNT MANAGER to join our fun, young team in the heart of racing Newmarket, Suffolk.

Our clients are the market leaders in the international horseracing and breeding industry. We pride ourselves on building strong, long-term relationships with our clients, many of which have been maintained for over a decade.

 

Who we are looking for:

We are looking for someone with a keen interest in all things marketing and advertising and a passion for horseracing.

The successful candidate will need to thrive in a fast-moving flexible business environment, have strong client management skills as well as a logical mind and a meticulous attention to detail.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills are key as this is a client facing role and you will be the representative of the business when liaising with clients.

You will be given the freedom as well as the responsibility of solely running and managing your allocated accounts to include planning annual advertising schedules, engaging the creative team and implementing print, digital and video projects for clients.

 

Flexible rotational weekend cover and occasional evenings for racing and sales success advertising will also be required.

 

Key responsibilities:

  • Liaising with clients making sure all their needs and requirements are met

  • Following/ planning advertising schedules for your clients and booking and sending ads

  • Adhoc project management for your allocated clients

  • Liaising with the design team

  • Website and social media management

  • Some sales and admin responsibilities

The successful candidate will have:

  • 2:1 or above Business/ marketing/ bloodstock degree and evidence of knowledge/ experience in the racing industry.

  • Well organised with a flexible approach and the ability to juggle a range of projects at one time.

  • Self-starter with strong self-motivation, energy and drive.

  • Extremely proactive and able to take ownership and run their allocated accounts as if they were their own business.

  • The ability to prioritise under pressure and excellent organisation skills.

  • A confident conscientious communicator with immaculate written and verbal communication skills.

  • A hardworking team player with a positive and friendly character who wants to get stuck in and is fun to work with!

  • Full, driving license as you are expected to work from the office in Newmarket 5 days a week.

  • References required. Salary dependent on experience (20-25k per annum range).
